This actually was the wrong book, it has been sent back and the correct book has been received. Since I didn’t read the book I can’t rate it.

Loved the boiok. Provided lots of in-depth insights into digital photography. Perfect book for a beginner and a point-and-shoot camera person endeavouring into semi-manual digital cameras.

I purchased this author’s other photography book, “Digital Photography All in One Desk Reference For Dummies” and immediately searched to see what else he has written. This book really lived up to my expectations! Busch is one of the few authors who really understand both photography and digital technology, and are able to combine both in one entertaining book.

This one is a more advanced book than the Dummies guide, so the two make perfect companions. It explains many different photographic techniques, showing how to achieve them using digital cameras. Each chapter also includes brief “Tips from the Pros” advice that illustrate professional secrets for accomplishing various photo effects.

I also enjoyed the end-of-chapter “Projects For Individual Study” that sent me off on my own exploring digital infrared photography, building my own lighting tent, or figuring out ways to trigger an electronic flash to freeze a hammer breaking a light bulb. The information I picked up in the chapters helped me have fun tackling the projects.

This book is in full color, which is about the least you should expect from a book on digital photography. The illustrations were very well done, yet reflected the kind of photos that readers could realistically expect to take after reading this book. It’s frustrating to see examples in some books using, say, professional models or exotic locations and knowing I could never duplicate those results.

All in all, I think this is a great next step for anyone who’s serious about photography and who wants to learn how to take pictures with a digital camera.
